Sue Muse is the Denbigh Town Development Officer and works with the Denbigh Town Business Group, Theatr Twm o'r Nant, the Events Group and Midsummer Group. As part of her role she works closely with the community, schools and colleges. Self-employed, Sue has her own company Your Muse, a freelance agency offering business support, PR, websites and administration support. Sue manages the Visit Denbigh and Ruthin websites. Here she will keep you up-to-date with the many events and activities going on in Denbig

Denbigh Midsummer Festival

Festival arrangements for this years festival during the 19th to the 22nd June have now been finalised. Numerous events have been planned, kicking off with the famous Ball Drop on Bull Lane - official opening by the Mayor of Denbigh.

Town Hall at 7pm - Ian McMillan 'Sharp Stories' - £10/£8 conc. prebook on 01745 816887. An evening with the John Peel of Poetry - Yorkshire words and European music. Poet, broadcaster and comedian Ian McMillan dances with composer and accordionist Luke Carver Goss and Orchestra in this sizzling wok of words and music. Powerful, echoing tales of mikmen, mining, heatwaves, dads, voices found, death by shanty, industrial manoeuvres, 9/11 and the late great Ronnie Barker. Improvised and constructed for audiences, 7 to 107!!!

The Festival centres around the Town Hall, with events outside on the square. Friday - The Welsh Market with Jazz - Fun Fair back in Town at 3pm. Film Show in the evening and the Welsh Poetry Slam. Saturday - The French Market with live music outside The Hand. Rugby Tournament for the Youths 10 to 1pm. Salsa Night in the evening. Sunday - Chill Out - Well-being Day - plus Play with Clay at the Town Hall. Boules, BBQ and live music in the afternoon and English Poetry Slam to close the festivities.

This is a community festival and is organised by volunteers; funded through grants, donations from DCC and Town Council and with lots of help and support from the local businesses and community.
